VS Realm eSports Arena

 

 

 

A new eSports lounge, VS Realm eSports Arena, just opened its doors this past weekend in Decatur. Located in the North Dekalb Mall, the arena is equipped with gaming chairs, couches, and several gaming stations including a retro gaming station to provide hours of casual and competitive fun.

 

Their space is dedicated towards building eSports league, hosting tournaments, and supporting the gamer community. Considering the rise of eSports and the game community in Atlanta, VS Realm has found a great place to make its home.

Indie Corner: Blue Mammoth Games 

 

 

 

Blue Mammoth Games is an independent game development studio based in Atlanta, Georgia. The studio was founded in 2009 by veterans of Cryptic Studios and Hi-Rez Studios, and specializes in online multiplayer games. Blue Mammoth developed and published Brawlhalla, a free-to-play fighting game with over seven million players, and is currently the most played fighting game on Steam.

 

They are currently in the process of establishing a foothold in Europe with a brand new studio opening in Amsterdam in January 2018. This will allow the company to attend more European conventions and connect with its growing European player base.

BCX 2017



 

Blue Mammoth's 2nd annual Brawlhalla World Championship(BCX) took place last month with players competing in 1v1 and 2v2 tournaments. with a $100,000 prize pool. Zack Janbay, "LDZ", became the two-time 1v1 Brawlhalla Champion and won $20,000 cash prize. Zack Bielamowicz, "Boomie," and Ngwa Nforsi, "Remmy," are the 2v2 Brawlhalla Champion Team and took home a $25,000 cash prize. Good game, guys!

Hi-Rez Expo

 

 

Next month is Hi-Rez Studios’s annual Hi-Rez Expo (HRX) that will take place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, GA January 4-7th, 2018. HRX is Hi-Rez’s biggest annual event featuring the best teams from around the globe competing against each other for their share of the eSports prize pools.

This year, HRX features more eSports championships than ever before as the SMITE World Championship and SMITE Console World Championship are joined by the Paladins World Championship, Paladins Console Wars, and the Hand of the Gods Founder’s Tournament. Plus, attend the keynote address to get exclusive first looks at new content for all Hi-Rez games!

The Dr Boyce Watkins Channel, "Your Black World," is an all-black news and commentary channel that features a number of African American thinkers, commentators and speakers. 

 

PCX co-founder, Jakita Thomas, did an interview covering her journey into Computer Science. The interview highlights her work in bringing awareness to the lack of representation in the high tech industry and how she's bringing this knowledge to take on the eSports industry!
